I’ve been at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram since 2002 working in almost every nook of the newsroom and overseeing the important transition from a print publication to digitally-focused, audience-driven platforms.
I started as a designer in Sports and moved on to designing every section of print edition including several redesigns. My first step into the digital waters came with DFW OT, an iPad sports magazine which mixed traditional print design with the movement of interactivity, video and animation.
I’ve since been a leader on design and UX of our digital products: website, apps and special presentations.
Presently, I oversee visuals (video and digital presentations), audience efforts (social, newsletters, voice assistants, analytics) and am the editor for arts/entertainment and the Dallas Cowboys. coverage.
I’ve been recognized by the Society for News Design, the Associated Press, McClatchy’s President Award and even won an Emmy — the Lone Star Emmy — for my role as a producer on Titletown, TX 2: Hail Mary.
When I’m not in the newsroom I enjoy music (indie, loud, hip-hop), sports (Cowboys, Longhorns, Rangers, Mavericks, Arsenal), crosswords (print), beer (Blood & Honey), playing FIFA ( best video game ever) and giving my dogs more treats than they deserve (nah, they deserve it).
